Preston Bagot and back
A first night's mooring with the moon rising above Bascote bottom lock.
Second night's mooring below Hatton Lock 3
Graffiti on the ugly bridge part way up Hatton.
An unusual garden ornament on the roof terrace of a cottage at Preston Bagot.
The welcoming committee on the offside of one of the locks, with no sign of any owner nearby as we passed.
It looks as though there's just a tree root holding the offside bank together above Bascote bottom lock. The nearby fields seem to be filling up with canal water from the leak.

Alvecote and back
With a long daily commute through the week we only had one brief trip for some maintenance in September before our week in October. Familiar ground, but very pretty and good to get away.
...and only one misadventure to report. Returning to the boat in Braunston after lunch, the lock on the boat door would not open. Fortunately we had forgotten to secure another hatch, so could get back in without breaking anything. It turned out that the snib had snapped off the the face of the latch, and a component inside the lock had dropped to deadlock it.
