Still no boating to report, but here's a picture of a Peacock that was struggling to stay right side up on the track through the woods. Although the adults can come out of hibernation all year round if the weather is warm enough, I don't think this one was enjoying it much.
Canals link: the last time I came across a peacock in the woods was just south of Leighton Buzzard on the Grand Union about three years ago. A strange shrieking noise after dark had us venture out to find what was causing it, to find a peacock in a tree above the towpath. Carried on for much of the night as far as I remember. That seems to be quite an area for assertive livestock.
